There has been many questions and few answers about the authenticity of this globe from Kansas. The one in the photo here is an early undated known reproduction. The story goes, from reliable sources, that back in the 1970s an original was supposedly found in the attic of a bulk plant in Kansas. From that known original several undated reproductions were later made and sold by a company in Oklahoma. We have never seen the original if it exists. Supposedly there was an original offered on eBay a few months back but we could not verify whether that was an actual original or not. This phony etched one piece globe turned up at an auction in Southern Ohio a while back. Etching is poorly done and clearly recent, unlike earlier original versions. This Mobilfuel Diesel Sign made in porcelain is phony. The two photos here show the front and backside that was doctored to appear original. Notice:
The "Licensed by Mobil" (or similar language) at bottom has been wiped out. It appears to either be scraped or maybe acid etched out. The person also tried to "ADD" the language to the backside of the sign to make it look more

This is just another version of the phony White Eagle you see in the next photo. They left the red areas and some type out!!! White Eagle Refining never made a globe like this or anything even close to it. They did make a round etched one piece, this is baked, but it didn't look like this at all. Please see the ink stamp on the inside of the globe in the next photo which confirms this as a reproduction. Look at this PHONY sign carefully. Then study the sign in the next photo here that is an ORIGINAL to see the differences. Original is about 9 X 11 and the repro is a square shape 12 X 12. Note the font difs and the italicized word "ALL" only in the original. The word "Gargoyle" has a difference arch in it too. I saw this on e-Bay and this is a phony globe. This "globe" is simply a reproduction decal that Sinclair never used placed on an older plastic frame-much like the kind Vickers Oil Company used. In other words a completely fabricated globe!
